The Cranford Public Library has a full calendar of family programs for Spring 2019. Take a look at what’s coming up!
The Library will continue its story time session through April 11.
The library has weekly offerings for children ranging from 3 months of age up to age five! All story times meet at 10:15 a.m. Babies ages 13-23 months of age can join us for Baby Story Time every Monday morning. 2-year-olds are welcome to join us for Toddler Story Time every Tuesday morning, and children ages 3-12 months old can join us on Wednesday mornings. Preschoolers ages 3-5 are invited to 3-4-5 Story Time on Thursday mornings. No registration is required, but we ask that participants arrive on time as space is limited and we may be unable to accommodate latecomers.
The Library will continue to offer iDiscover Coding, a monthly introduction to the logic of computer programming.
Each class will acquaint children with a coding concept through the use of fun, educational apps. Students will create interactive stories, animation, and even video games! Children in grades 1-3 can join us on March 5, March 26, April 2, April 30, May 7, and May 28 at 6:30 p.m. Students in grades 4-6 are welcome to join us on March 5, April 2, and May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Registration is not required, but space is limited. This free program is sponsored by a grant from the Union County Freeholders.
2nd Annual Picture Book Palooza!
Picture book authors and illustrators will be sharing books and crafts with children ages 4-8 and their families. The event will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cranford Community Center. This event is perfect for budding authors, illustrators, and any children who love a good story! All attendees will have a chance to win copies of books by featured authors and illustrators, and additional books will be on hand for purchase and autographing. Registration is not required.
New Jersey Makers Day is a statewide celebration of making and maker culture that takes place every March in the Garden State.
Children of all ages are invited to join us on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as we tinker, play, and learn!
Independent readers are invited to hone their skills by reading to therapy dogs at the “Paws for Reading” program.
We’ll be joined by certified therapy dogs on Tuesday, March 12, April 9, and May 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is required and begins two weeks before each program, call or stop by the library to reserve a spot.
Children in grades K-6 are invited
join us as we free-build and share our work with our friends on March 19, April 16, and May 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. No registration required.
Students in grades 4-6 are invited to join us for a fun series, called Unquiet Library, which meets on Thursdays this spring.
We’ll host movie days, tinker with robots, play video games, and much more! Join us on March 7, March 21, April 4, and April 18 from 4-5:00. We’ll have a special two-hour Movie Day from 4:00-6:00 on May 2. At the request of our club members, we’ll also be adding a Paint and Sip program on Thursday, May 30 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Participants will paint a masterpiece while sipping on juice, registration is required. Please note that the Paint and Sip session is the only meeting of Unquiet Library that requires registration, everything else is drop-in.
