The Build a Better World 2017 Summer Reading Program for children continues through August!
Children’s Drop-in Craft on Monday, August 7 from 2-4 pm
Encourage your child’s creativity by making a simple craft together. Drop in anytime between 2-4. All supplies are provided.
Summer LEGO® Club on Monday, August 7 at 7:00 pm and August 31 at 3:30 pm
Join us for the LEGO® Club at the Clark Public Library! Create your own lego structures. Legos are provided by the library. Creations are displayed in the Children’s Area. For children in grades K – 5. No registration required.
Youth Stages present Stone Soup on Tuesday, August 8 at 10 am
What are the villagers to do? They can barely feed themselves let alone a soldier! The children will assist the performer with making soup… from a stone! They will provide sound effects, physical movements, and lines of dialogue as they hide their supplies, then suggest foods to add to the soup.
Pajama Time Story Time on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00 pm
Come in your PJs for our evening family story time! Stories, songs, and fingerplays for children ages 2 – 5 years old. Great for working parents and busy families.
Teen Summer Reading Wrap Up Party on Thursday, August 10 at 2 pm
Join us as we wrap up the teen summer reading program with Kong: Skull Island (Rated PG-13) and pizza! We’ll also be raffling off several prizes!
Family Movie Night on these Thursdays at 7:00 pm

August 24 A teen monkey pledges to defeat a warlord who destroyed his home planet and wiped out his family. With the help fo this friends, a brilliant warthog and a tough-as-nails fox, he sets out to stop the supervillain before he unleashes the power of a monster. Rated PG.
Girls Interactive STEM Camp on Monday-Friday August 14-August 25 at 3 pm
This is a free summer camp for girls in Grades 4-6. Students will be taught a specific topic each day, and then apply their knowledge by conducting hands on experiments. Registration is required. Mad Science Engineering Challenge Show on Monday, August 14 at 7 pm
To be able to “Build a Better World” we need to understand some of the buildings and structures around us. The foreman (our Mad Scientist) will supervise construction by the audience members. Together they will engineer arches (including a 5 foot keystone arch), towers, and bridges using different geometric shapes. Best suited to ages 5 and up. Please register.
Union County Division on Aging Services on Monday, August 14 from 10- Noon
Do you have a questions about services for seniors or their caregivers? The Union County Division on Aging will be at the Clark Public Library to answer them. Drop by anytime between 10am-12pm and get answers to your questions about: pharmaceutical assistance, home energy assistance, home care, home delivered or congregate meals, caregiver relief, medicaid, transportation, and other questions you may have.
Adult Book Club on Monday, August 14 at 7 pm
We will be discussing “Heartburn” by Nora Ephron. Cookbook author Rachel Samstat discovers that her husband, Mark, is in love with another woman. In between trying to win Mark back, loudly wishing him dead, and suffering from intensive heartburn, Ephron’s irrepressible heroine offers some of her favorite recipes. Please speak with a librarian for information on obtaining a copy of the book.
Special Invitation Only Build Your Own Sundae Party on Thursday, August 17 at 4 pm
This special invitation-only event is for Summer Reading participants who reached these goals: 25 Early Literacy activities for Preschoolers or 1000 pages read for Kindergarten through Grade 6.
When these goals are reached you will receive a special invitation to this program! These goals must be recorded at the library for registration.
Back to School Snacks with Lauren, Dietitian at Shoprite in Clark on Tuesday, August 21 at 4pm
Lauren will present us some great ideas to prepare for healthy snacks this fall. This program will be for children and parents. Please register.
Grown-Up Coloring Club Meets Weekly on most Fridays – August 4, 11, 18, and 25 at 1:30 p.m.
Coloring isn’t just for kids anymore! Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring for grown ups. Relieve some stress while stimulating your creativity! No registration is required.
Teen Tech Help on most Tuesdays at 7:00 pm, Fridays at 3:30 pm, and Saturdays at 2:00 pm
Do you have a new phone or tablet and need help figuring it out? The library now offers one-on-one assistance with a variety of technological issues. Sessions last one hour and may also focus on e-mail, e-books, Microsoft Office or other technology questions you might have.
