Union Village United Methodist Church

Bishop John R. Schol of the greater New Jersey Conference, announces the  appointment of Rachael Phelps as the new pastor of the Union Village United Methodist Church, 1130 Mountain Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.  She will begin her new responsibilities on July 1st of this year.
Rachael was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, moving to New Jersey in 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Central Washington University and received her Master of Divinity at Drew Theological School this past May. Discerning a call to ministry while serving as a Peer Minister in college, Rachael then worked in local church ministry in both Washington and New Jersey.  Rachael is passionate about creating community, worship, and engaging scripture in everyday life.  She believes that the church is called to be Christ’s body in the world through service, witness, and love.
While Pastor Rachael comes to us as a seminary graduate, she is in process towards licensing and ordination. To partner with Rachael, the Rev. Dr. Tanya Linn Bennett, the associate dean at Drew University Theological School, will serve as a coordinating pastor and will lead the sacraments of baptism and holy communion and support Rachael’s ministry in our midst.
