Four Centuries in a Weekend is Saturday, October 21-22

Union County’s 2017 Four Centuries in a Weekend is Saturday, October 21, from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, October 22, from 12 noon to 5 pm.  Members of the Union Township Historical Society in colonial costume will host an open house at the Caldwell Parsonage, 909 Caldwell Avenue, Union, as well as tours of the Union Tool Museum in the adjacent carriage house (barn).  There will be photo ops for children with prop tricorn hats and colonial-style bonnets; and kids can make “church” dolls and play colonial games.  “Rev. James Caldwell,” portrayed by Doc Burkhardt, will greet visitors between 2 and 5 pm on Saturday.  Refreshments will be served.  Kawameeh Middle School National Junior Honor Society students will serve as historic interpreters.  Admission is free.Celebration of the founding of our community of Connecticut Farms, Saturday, October 28
All are cordially invited to the celebration of the founding of our community of Connecticut Farms (1667)–now the Township of Union (1808)–on Saturday, October 28, at Suburban Golf Club, 1730 Morris Avenue, Union, from 7 to 11 pm.  The evening will include musical entertainment by members of UHSPAC and an appearance by “Rev. James Caldwell,” portrayed by Doc Burkhardt.  The highlight of the gala will be the induction into the Union Township Historical Society Hall of Honor of Louis Giacona (posthumously), founder of the Union Township Historical Society; Michael Yesenko, former president of the UTHS and of the Union County Historical Society; and Anthony Russo, former Mayor of Union.  Tickets are $75 each.  For more information, email mcanarelli1331@aol.com.  To order tickets, go to 350th.eventbrite.com.
