Adult Candle-Making Workshop (Main Library)

Saturday 10/5 at 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Indulge your creative side at our exclusive candle-making workshop led by Salimah Scott, the talent behind Urban GLŌ. Revisiting the Newark Jazz Organ Days (Vauxhall Library)

Selection Bias in the Baseball Hall of Fame (Vauxhall Library)

The National Baseball Hall of Fame is a very exclusive club. It’s near impossible for any player, let alone a black baseball player to be elected. Please join us as baseball enthusiast, Mr. David Shuffler, discusses the Baseball Writers Association of America, the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the selection bias they created for black ballplayers who deserve to be enshrined

Jimmy Carter’s Message of Peace and 100th Birthday (Main Library)

Tuesday 10/8 at 6:00 p.m.

Presenter Rick Feingold will host a lecture and commentary on visiting Plains, GA and President Carter’s 40 year work of weekly messages of love and acceptance of all human beings regardless of status or position. The program also features video of Carter’s message and what it was like to attend his class while being watched over by the Secret Service.

Adult Crochet for Beginners (Vauxhall Library)

Wednesday 10/6 at 6:00 p.m.

Please join us as Ms. Lisa Roberts teaches attendees the basics of learning how to crochet. Attendees can bring their own crochet hooks and yarn, but supplies will be provided!

Hunting History: The Nazi Spy and the German American Bund (Main Library)

Led by Hunting Historian himself, James Calaski shares his research on Glen Rock resident Carl Schiphorst. Schiphorst was the target of an extensive FBI investigation as a Nazi spy.

Come explore UPL Island! Check out our inclusive virtual library building that serves children, teens, and adults. Total Body Blast with Just Gaines (Main Library)

Total Body Blast is an energy-driven, small group class that focuses on increasing strength, cardiovascular endurance, stability, and mobility. Know Your Rights? (Vauxhall Library)

The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR) will provide an overview of the Law Against Discrimination and the two other anti-discrimination laws that their office enforces, as well as the New Jersey Bias Investigation Access System. This online portal allows individuals to file a complaint related to bias-based harassment or discrimination with DCR.

Walk-in Wednesdays: One-on-One Library Technology Assistance (Vauxhall Library)

Wednesdays at 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. on 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30

Get help with library resources, including downloading e-books from Libby and Hoopla, using the library catalog and resources, using mobile print, and using the photocopier and scanner. Reservations are not required.
