During this time, U.S. Veterans armed forces are being celebrated by the help of Shirley McClary. She has a passion for others, particular her fellow residents at the Golden Age Towers in Rahway. McClary felt that her resident Veterans should be engaged in a celebration to honor them. She also invited those who served the Golden Age Towers for the resident safety and protection. In addition, the Rahway Police Department and the Rahway Fire Department were invited.
Gifts were donated by the residents and by the Golden Age Towers management. McClary is always working with residents to get them involved with activities. On the weekends, she has permission to use the Community Room where she has transformed it into an activity room. McClary is already preparing the activities downstairs before the residents wake up. She sets up 12 game tables like Backgammon; Pokeno Checkers; 500 and Pitty Pat card games and puzzles to drawing. There are even two tables: “Conversation Only: and “Do Not Bother”. All in fun…McClary’s motto is “get involved.”
