Firefighters Thomas Penn and Matthew Lemons were awarded high honors from the program that graduated 12 recruits from the Essex and Union Counties fire departments. Firefighter Penn was presented with the Academic Achievement Award and Firefighter Lemons was recognized as the Executive Officer (XO) of the class.
The Essex County Public Safety Training Academy program is required for all newly appointed Summit firefighters and consists of eight weeks of basic firefighter training.
