Boy Scouts Restore “Old Glory”
Cranford United Methodist Church
The American flag at Cranford United Methodist Church was damaged and blew away recently. Just in time for the Fourth of July, “Old Glory” has been restored to its place of honor on the church’s flag pole on Walnut Avenue by Boy Scout Troop 75.
Andy and John Koneski, troop 75 leaders, did a great job making the church’s flagpole operational again and replacing the flag in time for Memorial Day and the 4th of July. They replaced the hooks and clips that attach the flag and put up a bigger flag.
Orest Hrycak, Scoutmaster of Troop 75, noted that. “Keep in mind that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the few organizations in this country that is allowed to handle the U.S. flag and also properly dispose of old flags as well. Troop 75 keeps the Scouts current on the proper handling and retiring of flags.”
