Millburn High School Student Gives Back

The Other Side of the End Zone

The Other Side of the End Zone is a charitable scholarship fund started by Millburn High School student, Gavin Sherman. Gavin plays on Millburn’s football team and, in an effort to help other local student athletes, he started this exceptional charity in late 2023. The Other Side of the End Zone is dedicated to providing financial assistance to underprivileged high school students who excel in football, helping them pursue higher education and achieve their academic and athletic goals. The goal is to raise funds to provide college scholarships specifically to these student athletes. Recipients need to demonstrate strong academics and character traits in addition to excellence on the football field.

On June 5, 2024, The Other Side of the End Zone awarded its first scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, to Kaemir Carter, a graduating senior at West Side High School in Newark. Kaemir was an offensive and defensive lineman for West Side’s football team, in addition to being on the basketball and track teams. Kaemir will be attending Kean University in the fall where he will also be playing football.
