The Mountainside Active Retiree Club Finishes a Successful Season
The Mountainside Active Retiree Club closed out another successful season with a luncheon at the Spanish Tavern in Mountainside on May 28, 2019.
The 2018-2019 season included many activities including another luncheon in January, 2 trips, one in October to the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, with lunch included at Sebasian’s Schnitzelhaus, and one this past March to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse & Dinner Theatre in Hunterdon, N.J.
Our ‘speaker’ program, varied as usual, started with Mayor Paul Marabelli of Mountainside and ended with Linda Kenyon speaking as Julia Child.
In between were speakers Professor Kane with an hour of trivia, Angela Ellerbe with updates on new Medicare changes, comedienne Roxy LaRouche with an hour of adult humor, harpist Joann Hansen providing live holiday music. Professional entertainer/singer Candy Nelson, conductor Prof. Gregory Scime, author Carol Bradshaw (The Anchor), speaker Kevin Woyce (Sky Scrapers of N.Y.). Brian Pinto from Tiffany Drugs, Pete Axelrod from Wild Birds Unlimited, and Anita Eigen and her dog Macy from Seeing Eye.
The 2019-2020 season starts September 10th and will be just as eclectic, entertaining and educational.
We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the 2nd floor community room at Mountainside’s Borough Hall at 10 a.m. Meetings are open to all.
Membership is open to residents 55+, retired, semi-retired, and even to those who wish they were retired.
Come try us out at a meeting or two. See you in September.
