Thanksgiving Harvest Home and Armistice Observance at Fosterfields
Experience Historic Holiday Traditions, and Honor the U.S. Armed Forces
On Sunday, November 17, 2019, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., experience a historic farm-style Thanksgiving holiday and mark the anniversary of the Armistice ending World War I at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township.
Roll up your sleeves and help prep dinner at the farmer’s house. Pitch in at the cider press, and saw the wood needed for winter heating and cooking. Meet the friendly farm animals, take a leisurely wagon ride, and enjoy live, patriotic music. New this year, see an authentic Model T ambulance and learn about the Red Cross during WWI.
At the Willows Historic House, experience the house come alive to 1918, set with actors using vignettes to portray characters on the homefront during World War I. Join in laying out knit poppies to honor Morristown service men and women of the First World War.
At 1 p.m., gather for a special program honoring all U.S. military personnel and veterans and to recognize the anniversary of U.S. involvement in WWI.
Stop by the Visitors Center, and check out the ‘Call of Duty’ exhibit, and create your own craft. Continue on to the Transportation Exhibit, where Miss Foster’s 1922 Model T Ford and 1929 Hupmobile are on display.
Admission is $8 per adult, $7 per senior (65+), $6 per child age 3 to 16, and free for age 2 and under. Friends members are half price with a current membership card. Current military personnel and veterans are admitted free for this event.
