$2K Sustainability Grant Awarded to the City of Summit
On May 7, 2019, the City of Summit was awarded a $2,000 capacity-building grant through the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program funded by the PSEG Foundation. Summit is one of 36 municipalities in New Jersey that has received funding to implement a variety of sustainability projects focused on green infrastructure, park restoration, single-use plastic reduction campaigns, raingardens, environmental resource inventories, green team capacity building and more.
“We are thankful to Sustainable Jersey for its support of vital environmental projects in Summit,” explains Mayor Nora Radest. “This grant will enable our municipality to enhance our efforts to track and reduce Summit’s carbon footprint and energy use, and better maintain our local parks and hiking trails. This important work would not be possible without Sustainable Jersey funding and the outstanding efforts of Summit’s environmental commission and green team volunteers.”
Sustainable Jersey grants are intended to help municipalities make progress toward a sustainable future in general, and specifically toward Sustainable Jersey certification. Summit has been certified with Sustainable Jersey since its inception in 2009 and has achieved silver champion status.
