New Staff Welcomed to Summit Public Schools for 2019-2020 School Year
During the week of August 11, 2019, over 40 new staff members attended Summit Educator Training (S.E.T.) at the Summit Public Schools. The mix of new hires included teachers, guidance counselors, and Child Study Team members. Organized by Jenn McCann and Adam Leaman, S.E.T. is an event comprised of three days of training followed by one day of building-based preparation. The S.E.T. schedule is planned around different themes such as Community & Communications, Innovative Teaching, and Professional Responsibilities.
This year, Principal Matt Carlin led a bus tour, complete with music and trivia, so new staff could visit our nine school locations and learn about the Hilltopper community. They visited the YMCA and other local spots such as City Hall, where they met with Mayor Radest and Chief Weck. “It is terrific that they were available to meet with us. It reinforces the strong partnerships that exist between the school and community,” said Matt Carlin.
