National Night Out Rescheduled for October 6
The Summit Police Department has rescheduled its annual National Night Out event from Tuesday, August 4 to Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Following a request from the National Association of Town Watch to move the annual event to October 6 to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Summit, along with communities throughout the country, is postponing the event.
National Night out is a community-building event that annually takes place on the first Tuesday in August. A variety of federal, state, county, and municipal-level agencies come together with community members in an effort to build a safer and well-connected community. In the past, there have been demonstrations by Union County SWAT, NJ State Police, FBI, K-9, and Summit Police, Fire, EMS, and Public Works Departments.
