National Night Out 2023
The Summit Police Department and Department of Community Programs are hosting the 2023 National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, beginning at 6PM on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street.
Summit will join thousands of communities around the United States to celebrate National Night Out, a community-building event that takes place annually on the first Tuesday of August. Featuring a variety of state, federal, and municipal level agencies, National Night Out provides a chance for community members to come together with law enforcement individuals.
The event will feature displays and demonstrations by the US Coast Guard, US National Guard, Union County SWAT, NJ State Police, and K-9 unit, along with Summit Police, Fire, EMS, and Division of Public Works.
Food trucks, bounce houses, and other amusements will open at 6PM, followed by the annual Blessing of the Badges at 7PM. Changing Lanes will perform a concert at 7:15PM on the main stage on the Village Green. Free hot dogs will be provided at the Summit PAL food cart. All funds raised at the dunk tank, featuring Summit police officers and firefighters, will be donated to a local family in need.
Summit’s 2023 National Night Out is sponsored by the Summit Police Athletic League, Overlook Medical Center, and Paul Ippolito Memorial.
