Summit Girls Soccer Raises Funds for Veterans

The Summit High School (SHS) Girls Soccer Team not only won the Union County Championship this Fall (a first for SHS), but they also excelled off the field. Members of the team – led by their three Captains: Bridget Grennon, Joelle Ma, and Valentina Moretti – worked to make a difference by creating an online apparel store to raise funds for the benefit of homeless veterans. Through their generous efforts, they not only promoted the cause and widened support, they also generated a donation of $1,000, presented to the Summit Elks, which will go directly to help homeless veterans.

Assistance for homeless veterans is an extremely worthy cause. There are over 38,000 homeless veterans nationally. Throughout the State of New Jersey, Elks help veterans who are homeless in a variety of ways including; furnishing their new home, paying for hotel rooms and storage units while they await housing, and helping with food, clothes and other essentials. In the past year alone, New Jersey Elks have assisted more than 180 veterans in need.

If you’re interested in donating to the cause, please email apolloh99@yahoo.com and visit Elks.org for more information about The Elks and how to join.
