Sounds of a Summer Night 2017

INKUBATE®, a collaboration between the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble and Reeves-Reed Arboretum, will offer a third season of “enchanting and exhilarating” evenings of site-specific dance performances on the grounds of the Arboretum. This renowned summer dance festival, featuring dance artists and choreographers from the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble, will present three dance concerts on Wednesday evenings June 21, July 12, and August 2. Master choreographer, Adam Barruch, with a core of 25 dancers from the U.S., Canada, and Israel, will premier a new work especially created for INKUBATE for the July 12 concert.
Under the careful eye of Artistic Director Nancy Turano, the NJDTE (www.njdte.org) provides choreographic residencies for contemporary dance artists that culminate in outdoor performances at the Arboretum, reimagining dance as it interacts with nature and the surroundings. “We are thrilled to present the third consecutive summer of INKUBATE® at RRA,” comments Turano, “and establishing Summit, NJ, as a destination for dance and culture in the region.”
INKUBATE® is part of a four performance Sounds of a Summer Night series at the Arboretum. The final concert of the series will feature the remarkable Well-Strung, the Singing String Quartet with a modern twist, playing classical pieces while singing favorite pop songs. The New York Times recently called Well- Strung, “A talented quartet of men who sing and play instruments…. brilliantly fuses pop and classical music, from Madonna to Beethoven.”
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets to Reeves-Reed Arboretum as we kick off another summer series of four concerts in the garden. Sounds of a Summer Night 2017 commences with INKUBATE®, on Wednesday evening, June 21. The Arboretum grounds open up at 6 pm for concertgoers to picnic and the performance is from 7 pm to 8 pm. The cost is free to RRA Members (thanks to underwriting support from Investors Bank). There is a $10 per person donation for non-members, $5 for students). INKUBATE® and RRA’s Sounds of a Summer Night 2017 are proudly sponsored, in part, by a grant from Investors Foundation, with additional support from Nick & Tracy McKee and The Grand Summit Hotel.
