Somerset County Library System Offers Automatic Item Renewal Process

Library offers Automatic Item Renewal Process

The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) launched an automatic renewal process for all physical Library materials on July 8.

“After extending due dates automatically during our closure, we wondered if there was a way we could continue to offer that level of convenience to customers after we reopened,” said Lynn Hoffman, director of operations. “We think automatic renewal is just what we were looking for. In the midst of all of the chaos in our lives today, we’re glad to be able to take this one thing off customers’ minds.”

The Library System will automatically renew materials for customers two days before they are due. If materials cannot be renewed, customers will receive their due notices as usual.

The following renewal rules will continue to apply: materials with holds cannot be renewed; there is a limit of 10 renewals for each item; library accounts must be in good standing.

Automatic renewals only apply to physical materials; e-books and e-audiobooks will not be automatically renewed.
