Garwood Police to Host Second Annual Youth Academy
Registration for the Garwood Police Department’s second annual Youth Academy is now open! The Academy will meet daily from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning on Monday, August 5th, and concludes on Saturday , August 11th, 2019.
The six-day program offers Garwood youth graduating grades 5th through 8th an opportunity to learn about policing procedures through a series of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities presented by Police Officers from Garwood and partnering agencies including the Union County Sheriff’s Department, the Union County Emergency Response Team, Garwood Fire Department, Garwood First Aid Squad and the New Jersey State Police NorthStar Medevac Helicopter team.
There is a $30registration fee, however, space is limited. Applications are available on the department website, GarwoodPD.org or at Police Headquarters, located at 403 South Avenue. Applications must be completed and returned to Police Headquarters by 4:00 pm on Friday, June 7th. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
