Submitted by Sheila Leonard

On Sunday, December 5, 2021, Scotch Plains held a holiday celebration for the townspeople and anyone wanting to dive into the festive spirit of the holidays. This great celebration was generously sponsored by the Scotch Plains Business and Professional Association and took place at Alan M. Augustine Village Green.

The whole event was from 2–5 p.m. with many fun attractions for all ages to enjoy, such as, horse-drawn carriage rides, hot chocolate, face painting, temporary tattoos, a petting zoo, a photo booth, and a canned food drive. There was even a clown making balloon animals for all the children of anything they wanted! Also, the Scotch Plains Parks & Recreation Department had multiple gingerbread houses set up on display from various builders.

One of the biggest events of the celebration were photos with Santa that began at 3 p.m. and all the children were so excited as soon as he got off the firetruck to greet them. The other huge event for all to gaze upon was the Christmas tree lighting that took place at 5 p.m. The holiday celebration in Scotch Plains was a fun, festive event with tons of great attractions for everyone to have an amazing time!
