SCLSNJ Staff Donate to Food Bank
For the thirteenth year, Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) employees have partnered with the Food Bank Network of Somerset County to collect school supplies and more for County children in need.
“Once again, for the 13th consecutive year, the employees of SCLSNJ have answered the call to support their community with their generous donations of school supplies and nonperishable food which will be delivered to Somerset County’s Food Bank located on Easy Street in Bridgewater,” said Charlene Perkins, SCLSNJ’s donation drive co-chair. “Each year SCLSNJ hosts this donation drive, and each year I am humbled by the generosity and kindness of our staff.”
School supplies and nonperishable food products were collected, including: 205 pounds of school supplies, 150.5 pounds of non-perishable food items, and 48 backpacks.
This year, the Somerville Metro Lions Club also participated in SCLSNJ’s customarily staff-driven drive.
“We donated about $200 worth of food and school supplies to SCLSNJ’s drive,” said Chris Murray, SCLSNJ librarian and Somerville Metro Lions Club president. “I have participated in this drive for many years as an SCLSNJ staff member. This year as president of the Somerville Metro Lions Club, I suggested to the group that this might be a great opportunity to support local children in need. The group really came through and donated in abundance.”
