Cranford VFW Post #335’s Auxiliary held their Second Annual School Supply Drive on Saturday, August 12 and it was a smashing success! Diane McCracken, President of the Auxiliary explained, “Last year we filled 38 back packs with donations and we were so excited about it. But this year we almost doubled that number, it is really fantastic!”
Cranford Family Care coordinates the dispensing of the supplies to needy school children in Cranford and this year they identified 50 as candidates for the back packs and supplies.
“When they told us they had a need for 50 this year, we thought that would be a struggle” stated Kim Waked, Chairperson of the drive. “On Saturday when we saw all the bags that came in we were simply amazed. We actually got 75 back packs and enough school supplies to fill everyone of them. The people of our town just overwhelmed us with their generosity”, added Waked. “Every time we run an event like this the people of Cranford always come through. It’s an amazing town!”
The Auxiliary to Cranford VFW Post #335 is a support organization made up of men and women who are related to VFW members or eligible men and women. For information on joining this very active organization, please call 908-276-9730.
