The searing flavors of this fiery competition guaranteed that the Chili Cook-Off brought some five-alarm fun to School No. 1! Thanks to visionary committee of School No. 1, the Chili Cook-off was a resounding success. On December 8, 2016, School No. 1 hosted a L.E.A.D. (Linking Education and Dads) Chili Cook-Off which was provided by the Linden Education Association, in conjunction with F.A.S.T. (Families and Schools Together). Pomptonian, (Linden Public Schools food service) provided drinks, snacks, sandwiches and desserts to go with the chili.
School No. 1 families were invited to come and participate as either a judge or enter their family chili recipe to win the most prized trophy. This was a fun filled evening for the School No. 1 community enjoying imaginative booths, kid’s activities, entertainment galore, and world famous chili made by the parents. Families were able to partake in Mathematical Basketball and Jeopardy, Readers Theatre, visit the Mad Science Station or decorate their very own kitchen apron. This year’s Chili Cook-Off was a spicy competition that School No. 1 will be hosting this event again in the 2017 school year.
