The Mountainside Rescue Squad held its 78th annual Officers Installation and Awards Dinner on January 22, at The Primavera Restaurant, in Sterling. The newly installed Officers are as follows: AnnMarie Pires -President, Corrinne Moore-Vice President, Lori Rubino-Treasurer, Norma Huber- Secretary, and Victoria Schmidt- Chaplain, Eric Pastore- Chief, Chris Sileo- Deputy Chief, Chay Castro -1st Lieutenant and Julius Korn-2nd Lieutenant.
Congratulations to Chris Sileo and Colette Pluta for earning Member of the Year for 2015 and Probationary Member of the Year (respectively). They received this award for their outstanding and devoted service to the Squad. The Mountainside Rescue Squad is an all volunteer organization has been providing emergency medical service to the community of Mountainside for 78 years. With the help of donations and grants, the squad offers a scholarship program for college students who have become EMTs and are seeking a career in a medical field.
The Mountainside Rescue Squad hosts many community events like the “Haunted Trail” which will be bigger and better this year, the Easter Egg Hunt, EMS Open House which celebrates EMS Week in May, as well as demonstrations in first aid to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Mountainside.
