Read Across America Day

Clark Public Schools

Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School celebrated Read Across America with several guest readers including Board of Education members, administrators, and community members. Special guests selected a favorite book to read to a designated grade level. Members of the Carl H. Kumpf National Junior Honor Society also visited classrooms and read to the students.

Principal Shirley Bergin stated, “We are so grateful to have such involved community to promote reading. The students enjoy having Board of Ed members, district administrators and supervisors, the Clark Public librarian, and the Clark police DARE officers reading their favorite books.”

According to the National Education Association, “Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.”
