Rake & Hoe Garden Club Visit Jardine Academy

Rake and Hoe Garden Club members visited the Jardine Academy recently. Dedicated members planted daffodils and cleaned up their Rake and Hoe Butterfly garden. The students assisted by sorting out the plant material into compost and non-compost. Club members have been visiting the Jardine Academy for many years doing service projects at the school throughout the year. The visits provides a unique opportunity for the students to be involved with garden and flower projects.
The Jardine Academy is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education and is proud to maintain Middle States Association. The Academy provides a comprehensive Educational Program designed to meet the cognitive and physical needs of children who have multiple disabilities – needs that may not be fully met within the local school system. The Cerebral Palsy League operates a new, state-of-the art facility in Cranford for students ages 3-21.
The Rake and Hoe Garden Club of Westfield has a long-term reputation for its many services to the community including creating flower arrangements to accompany Mobile Meals delivery service to clients; preparing flower arrangements for veterans at Lyons Veterans Hospital and maintaining the gardens at the Westfield Train Station, the Miller-Cory House Museum, Shadowlawn Pocket Park and the Claire Brownell Wildflower Garden at the Westfield Historical Society’s Reeve history and Cultural Resource Center.
