POLICE DEPARTMENT RE-ACCREDITATION

The New Providence Department was presented with a Re-Accreditation Certificate by Accreditation Manager, Harry Delgado of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, during the January 4, 2017 Borough Reorganization Meeting.
Currently, only 34% of NJ Police Departments are accredited. The New Providence Police Department is one of only 5 (.019%) in the state who have achieved a 3rd reaccreditation, marking a significant professional achievement.
Accreditation is the certification by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, that the accredited agency was carefully measured against an established set of state and national standards and has met or exceeded accepted practices in the field of law enforcement.
The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police noted; “It is the opinion of the assessment team that the New Providence Police Department is a highly professional and committed agency which exemplifies all of the tenets of Law Enforcement Accreditation. The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs Of Police and the New Jersey Law Enforcement Commission, congratulates Chief Anthony Buccelli, Accreditation Manager Lieutenant Theresa Gazaway, the members of the New Providence Police Department, Borough Administrator Douglas Marvin, The Mayor and Council and those citizens they so proudly serve, for achieving their 3rd reaccreditation, joining a very exclusive group of law enforcement agencies that have made this important commitment to excellence in policing.”
The New Providence Police Department received National Recognition by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and NJSACOP Accreditation in 2006.
In addition to the agencies reaccreditation, Chief Anthony Buccelli and Lieutenant Theresa Gazaway have been granted police executive certification status through the NJSACOP Chief/Command Executive Program.
