Osceola Presbyterian Church Welcomes New Minister
Osceola Presbyterian Church welcomes Reverend Roberta (Bobbie) Arrowsmith to leadership as minister starting the first of January 2024. Arrowsmith came to Osceola as a guest minister, and over time developed deep ties with the congregation.
“I am thankful to God for this call to serve alongside the members of this neighborhood congregation that has welcomed me so warmly to this new position,” Arrowsmith said.
Born in Trenton, NJ, and a true Jersey Girl, Arrowsmith grew up and lived in Ewing Township until she moved to Newtown, PA, where she accepted her first call as Associate Pastor for the Newtown Presbyterian Church.
Arrowsmith is a Certified Christian Educator within the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) and received certification in Spiritual Direction, 2021, from Oasis Ministry. In 2022, she retired after 30 years of ministry having served multiple churches in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, most recently at Connecticut Farms, Union, NJ. Arrowsmith leaves retirement to come to Osceola and serve as their part-time pastor.
“I am thrilled with the number of programs this church supports both locally and internationally. There is a real passion for feeding and caring for people, children, and animals,” added Arrowsmith.
Arrowsmith has two daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. She enjoys quilting, reading, music of all kinds, museums, and needlework. She takes time to walk and swim. Leisure time is also spent with family, friends and laughing — a lot.
Osceola Presbyterian Church has been a presence in the township of Clark since 1943 and celebrated its 80thanniversary this year. The red brick church was almost completely destroyed by fire of unknown origin in 1989. But the determined congregation funded a rebuild and upgrade of the church reinstalling all but one of the original stained-glass windows which were saved along with the sacraments by a Clark firefighter.
Located on Raritan Road in Clark, NJ, and often referred to as ‘the little church on the parkway,’ Osceola offers two ways for you to join Sunday morning worship service. You can attend in-person in our sanctuary, or virtually via Zoom.
Weekdays you can view the service via the Osceola Presbyterian Church Facebook page where you can also learn about our collection drives and the many ways Osceola contributes to Clark and the surrounding communities.
Sunday School starts at 9 AM and is offered for school-age children. There is also an Adult Bible study at the same time. Both are in-person.
