(above) To enhance her students' awareness, understanding and appreciation for life in the marine environment, ESL teacher Mrs. Danie Orelien-Armstead had them build an aquarium. Students attending the ESL Summer Enrichment Program for the month of July at School# 9 had fun exploring and discovering how their lives are connected to the ocean. Students studied the natural habitat of ocean animals, the needs of living organisms in an aquatic environment, their dependency on each other for survival and the impact of human activities on marine life environment. At the end of the program, students designed and build their own aquarium.  According to ESL teacher, Mrs. Danie Orelien Armstead, "Building their own aquarium allowed students to discover that other living organisms have basic needs just like human beings do. People have a responsibility to protect and keep the oceans healthy. ​
