Annual 9/11 Silent Procession ceremony
On September 11, 2019 the Borough of North Plainfield held its annual 9/11 Silent Procession ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The procession and short service were held to commemorate the victims of September 11th, 2001. It was coordinated by the North Plainfield Police, Fire/EMS and Public Works departments, where members marched down Somerset Street and then gathered at Somerset and Lincoln for a brief service. Police Chief William Parenti spoke a few words to the crowd, which included all of the students and staff from Somerset School. Reverend Scott Harris of Trinity Reformed Church gave an invocation and a member of the Somerset County Pipes and Drums was in attendance to play the bagpipe.
