Fourteen families, (64 people) from four North Plainfield schools received Thanksgiving Food Baskets collected and donated by North Plainfield Girl Scouts. The food baskets contained the fixings for a fine Thanksgiving meal, other staple food items and also a supermarket gift card each – intended for fresh meat and/or produce purchase.
Nurses from North Plainfield schools, West End, East End, Stony Brook and Somerset, identified the needy families. The baskets were gathered by the local girl scouts and delivered to the local school nurses, who distributed the baskets to ensure the families remained anonymous.Troop 65255 Cadette Girl Scout Nicole Lindemeyer said, “Deserving and grateful families should get special treatment – especially at Thanksgiving.”Co-leaders of the organizing troop 65516, Diana Ehling and Renee Hobson, said, “We are proud of our girls who commit to this project year after year.”
One Thanksgiving Food Basket recipient family member said, “We can not put in words how we appreciate what the girls have done.”
