New Providence Police Department participates in 2019 Torch Run
On June 7, 2019, members of the New Providence Police Department took part in the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement. The Officers accepted the torch from the Summit Police Department and ran a nearly 3 mile course, traversing Springfield Ave. The Officers run detoured briefly on Maple St, to run through Salt Brook School in an effort to get some encouragement from our elementary school children. The event concluded at the New Providence-Berkeley Heights border, as the torch was passed to members of the Berkeley Heights Police Department. The New Providence leg of the event included School Resource Officer Michael Carlino, Corporal Bryce Garrison, Patrolman Andrew Lynch, and Class II Officer Greg Miller and Deputy Court Administrator Jessie Parisi.
