1996 documentary When We Were Kings
Thursday, 2/9 at 7 p.m.
The film tells the story of the 1974 heavyweight championship bout in Zaire which was called The Rumble in the Jungle at the time. The drama of the fight between an aging Ali past his prime fighting heavyweight champion Foreman who was 10 years younger is set against promoter Don King’s scramble to come up with $10 million to pay them. Eventually, King gets the money from Mobutu Sese Seko, the dictator of Zaire. Rated PG.
