Irish Dancing (Kids & Families)

In celebration of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day, The Ridgewood Irish Dance group  will perform jigs and reels.  The performers will teach basic steps after their performance.

SAT Math Help (Teens)

NP Chess Club (Kids, Teens & Adults)

Preparing For Your College Search (Teens)

Colleen Kenny, from The Write College, and Rob Pollak from Pollak Tutors will provide helpful information about preparing for your college search, the college application process, and digital testing – including the digital SAT.

Virtual Author Talk: Nina Totenberg (Adults)

Join us online for a conversation with NPR Legal Affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg as she talks about her nearly fifty-year friendship with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her book, “Dinners With Ruth: A Memoir on the Power of Friendships.” 

Creative Writing Group (Adults)

March 7, 14, 21, 28 at 10:30 – 11:30 am

Connect with your creative peers in the community with Creative Writing, a one hour opportunity to hone your writing skills. Each week, an optional writing prompt is provided, or you may write about anything you’d like. This is a fun, nonjudgmental way of expressing yourself, not a class.

Board Games at the Brewery (Adults)

March 7 at 7:30 – 9:30 pm

Buy yourself a beer or soda and play a board game in the back room at Untied Brewing! Library volunteers Mark and Elizabeth will introduce you to board games that go beyond the usual suspects you grew up playing.  We’ll play easy, quick to learn games like Otrio, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Sushi Go, Mysterium, and King of Tokyo. Ages 21+. Untied Brewing is located at 140 Spring Street in New Providence.

Let’s Craft: Paper Flowers (Adults)
March 8 at 11:00 – noon

Come make flowers out of tissue paper and coffee filters with help from our craft expert, Leslie.  All supplies will be provided.  Space is limited and registration is required.

Drop by the Coddington Room to use the materials and instructions that have been left on the tables.  Take home what you create.

Heartfulness Meditation (Adults)
March 9, 16, 23 from 10:30 – 11:30 am

A short guided relaxation in the Conti Room, followed by a 30-minute meditation session led by certified Heartfulness Meditation practitioners, and NP residents, Sanjay Sudarshan and Sanjeevni Wanchoo. This will be followed by a short reading from the recent book “Spiritual Anatomy” by Kamlesh Patel, ending with  Q&A session. Heartfulness is a volunteer-based worldwide non-profit organization focused on heart-based meditation, relaxation, yoga & spirituality.

“The Art of Ann Chernow”: Documentary & Meet the Filmmaker (Adults)

March 17 at 3 pm – 3:45 pm
This 30-minute documentary tells the fascinating story of Ann Chernow, an 87-year-old artist living in Westport, Connecticut, who has been creating prints, oil paintings, drawings and more since the 1970s. The filmmaker, Bernard Langs, will take questions from the audience after the screening.

Costa Rican Coffee Tour (Adults)

Learn all about coffee with a virtual tour of a coffee farm in Costa Rica: the plant, the history, the production, even the chemistry of caffeine.  See the process of how coffee is made, from the seed to the finished cup of coffee, made the old-fashioned way.  

Book Group: “Foster” and “Small Things Like These” by Claire Keegan

The book group will discuss Claire Keegan’s “Foster” as well as her novel “Small Things Like These,” which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2022.
