New Providence Fire Department hosted five future volunteers in their firehouse on Saturday, April 9. Fire Captain John Signorello, Fire Captain Vincent Wycko and Fire Captain Robert Mercado provided a full tour and fire safety tips to the Tiger Scouts from Den 15, Pack 263. The Tiger Scouts are working on their elective badge Safe and Smart. Captain Signorello allowed the boys to hold an oxygen tank on their back, sit inside the fire truck and work with a heat sensor.
He also reviewed fire tips such as stop, drop and roll and what to do in a fire emergency. The New Providence Fire Department keeps our community safe and is comprised of all volunteers. The New Providence Fire Department will consider volunteers as young as 16 years old giving them light duties around the firehouse. This is a great opportunity for a young individual looking to serve their community and expand their resume. Anyone who wants to volunteer can contact the NPFD directly via the website: http://newprovfd.org/.
