NAMI “Helping vs. Enabling” Virtual Presentation
On Tuesday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), in conjunction with Rutgers Behavioral Health, will offer a free Virtual presentation of “Helping vs. Enabling. Strategies to Improve Family Functioning”.
Kenneth Kinter, LPC, NCC, MINT, Assistant Professor, State Hospital Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Rutgers, the State University of NJ, will address how families can avoid the pitfalls of enabling and find alternative ways to support a loved one with mental illness. The presenter will help participants explore strategies that families can utilize to support their loved one’s recovery and set limits, offer practical advice to families on how to help a loved one with mental illness improve functioning, while maintaining their own wellness and self-care.
