Myles Shigeki Harada earns Eagle Rank

Green Brook BSA Troop 129

Myles Shigeki Harada earned his Eagle Scout rank on April 6, 2023 with Green Brook BSA Troop 129, he was originally part of Dunellen Troop 29. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process.

Myles has worked extremely hard to reach his accomplishment of Eagle Scout. With many obstacles and tests, learning many different skills has been an exciting achievement.

As Myles gets ready to graduate this June from Dunellen High School, he has juggled many different things at once, one major part is his many AP classes at school and being part of The National Honor Society.

Myles performed the lead role as The Beast in his high school spring production of “Beauty and the Beast”. He is the leader of the bass group for Madrigal chorus. And if this isn’t enough, he’s a baseball player, a lifeguard, and president of his class. Myles puts the scout motto of “be prepared” to good practice for his everyday tasks.

When Myles attends college, he plans to follow the same path of participating in clubs and sports, along with pursuing rigorous academics. Clinical Psychology will be his major. Myles plans to help people struggling mentally or socially as he sees this as a prominent issue. He feels he is fortunate to have a strong family with good values. He has learned many tools he wants to share.

Myles states, “I want to know that I did everything in my power to make the world better than it was before.”
