The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to sponsor a screening of “Ms. Bula Banerjee,” a short comedy, on Saturday, October 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center. The Community Center is located at 220 Walnut Avenue. In July 2015, Rakesh Baruah, a student at the Columbia University Film School, used the Cranford Public Library as the setting for the film. The film stars Aparna Nancherla, an up-and-coming writer, standup comedian, and actor. Ms. Nancherla has appeared on television on Conan and Inside Amy Schumer, and she recently recorded a half-hour special for Comedy Central. She was also profiled in an article in the New York Times this past July. In the film, Ms. Nancherla plays Bula Banerjee, a quiet librarian who must take a stand when a brash consultant arrives to modernize the business. Mr. Baruah will introduce the film and field questions about the process of making it. Admission is free and all are welcome.
