Did you know that September is Library Card Month? Access to thousands of books online and from our shelves, plus newspapers, magazines, and information is at your fingertips when you have a library card. It takes just a couple of minutes to get a card and all you need is identification with your current address. Minors will need identification from a parent or guardian.
The Mountainside Library has a full Fall program schedule for youth and adults. The next story time session begins on September 18 with weekly programs for families with babies through preschoolers as well as afterschool programs for school-age children including the always popular Reading to the Dogs. The Raptor Trust presents Sharing the World with Raptors: a broad overview to the six types of raptors we have here in New Jersey. Includes touchable artifacts. Wednesday, September 20 at 1:00pmAll ages are welcome.
Bubbly Bears with Miss Jolie: Preschoolers and their caregivers will enjoy this music and movement program with bubble popping fun. Friday, September 29 at 10:30am. Especially for preschoolers. Registration is required.
Adults can enjoy regularly schedule movies most Friday afternoons at 1:00pm and can participate in the Great Courses program focusing on The Gilded Age on most Monday afternoons at 1:00pm. In addition, adults now have a choice of three book groups, including:
Monday Night Book Club: Discuss a designated book on the first Monday of the month. In September the book is Verity by Colleen Hoover. All are welcome! Books are available at the library. Call to reserve your copy or to get more information. Monday, September 11 at 6:30pm.
Books and Bagels: There is no assigned reading for this new book chat program. Come prepared to talk about your new favorite books. Get great reading recommendations and enjoy coffee and a bagel. No registration required. Friday, September 22 at 10:00pm.
Cookbook Club: Explore new cookbooks and old favorites. Discuss recipes, techniques, and ingredients. The first meeting will feature sweet and savory fall ingredients. Come for a taste, stay for the discussion. Thursday, October 12 at 6:30pm
For adults who are interested in exploring, autumn is a perfect time to discover the natural beauty and history of New Jersey. Join New Jersey author and historian, Kevin Woyce, to learn about some of New Jersey’s most exciting history which can be found in our more than two dozen State Parks. The slide show includes original photographs of many of New Jersey’s beautiful state parks, plus vintage images of historic people, places, and events. Where will you explore next?
