On March 10, Miss New Jersey, Lindsey Giannini, visited Somerset Intermediate School in North Plainfield to speak to sixth graders in the GEMS (Girls for Engineering, Science, and Math) Club. Miss New Jersey gave an inspiring, uplifting talk about achieving goals and shared a breathing technique that she uses to calm her nerves before any public speaking engagements.
Miss New Jersey’s visit was a part of SCLSNJ’s North Plainfield Memorial Library branch’s Talk It Up initiative, funded by the Curiosity Creates grant, which aims to encourage children ages 6-14 to explore public speaking. For more information, visit SCLSNJ.org/s/TalkItUp.
