Millburn Library July 2023

Register for Library programs by visiting millburnlibrary.org/events. Registrants will receive a Zoom link for online and hybrid programs. All in person programs will take place at the Library building at 200 Glen Ave. Programs are free and open to all residents.

Log books and earn prizes as you go. There will be books, brag tags and more!

TEENS Ages 12-17

Read to Win! Every week you get a chance to win a gift card to a local spot in town OR a prize basket. The more you read, the better your chances. Reviews earn you extra raffle tickets (yes, please!) Tickets can be used in any of the weekly raffles. 

ADULTS Ages 18 and up

Summer reading is not just for kids! Join our annual challenge and earn tickets to enter fantastic prize raffles, plus a bonus gift just for signing up. The more you read, the better your chances of winning.

RELAXED SEASONAL DINING WITH THE TASTY RADISH

Sophisticated snacks, delicious bites, and beautiful boards filled with seasonal treats form the basis for the apéro dînatoire, an elegant cross between a light dinner and a casual cocktail gathering.  Learn how to adapt this relaxed style of dining at home using delicious ingredients, simple recipes, and an elegantly casual atmosphere.

Join us for a quick tour of the Google Photos app, which comes with a free Google (Gmail) account. Learn how to automatically back-up your phone photos, access them in the cloud, and share albums with friends & family.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE NYC HIGH LINE WITH MARIO MEDICI

The High Line is only 1.45 miles long but it’s packed with history old and new. Take a walk on The High Line with Mario Medici, amateur photographer and historian, and discover how the High Line was transformed from a historic elevated freight rail to one of New York City’s most popular parks.

Need a quiet space and helpful resources to touch up your resume? Visit our open office! We’ll have laptops provided, a stack of resume books, and a librarian on hand to help find resume templates, resources & tips online. You will also learn about our digital resource, Brainfuse JobNow, where you can submit your resume to an expert for feedback, conduct a live mock interview prep, and chat 1-on-1 with a job coach.

Children with caregivers are invited to the library to “stay and play!” Stay & Play is a program for young children using toys to encourage play with an emphasis on STEM and developmental skills. Registration required.

For grades 7-12

Teen Read & Review

Get service hours for doing what you love: reading! Go to millburnlibrary.org/teens to see examples and access the Google form.

Overview:

1) There is a limit of 2 review submissions per month.

2) Books must be on the student’s reading level, preferably from the Library’s Middle Grade or Young Adult collections.

3) Every 100 pages = 1 volunteer hour + 1 hour for writing the review itself

The Great Courses is offered through the Libby app, just click on Extras on the homepage and select “Great Courses”. You can also find the Great Courses through the Hooplaapp, under the More > BingePasses tab.
