The City of Summit recently announced the New Jersey Municipal Managers Association has awarded City Administrator Michael F. Rogers with the 2016 Outstanding Managers Award.
Rogers accepted the award on November 16th during the Municipal Managers luncheon held at the New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey for his work to alleviate a long-term parking overcapacity problem in Summit through a ridesharing initiative with Uber. The pilot program is the first of its kind in the nation for residential commuters.
“We are thrilled that Michael has been recognized for his innovative approach and unique solution to help ease parking congestion in our downtown,” explains Summit Mayor Nora Radest. “It is a well-thought-out public/private partnership that we envision being shared with other municipalities to save public money in the long term. I am thankful to the Municipal Managers Association for acknowledging Michael’s forward vision and strategic insight.
” Rogers has been serving as City Administrator in Summit since September 2015.
