The Frank K. Hehnly School Mentor LINKS (Looking Into the Needs of Kids) Program has kicked off another academic year. Their first event was designed to begin relationships which will continue to grow throughout the coming months’ activities. Program advisers Lisa Giandana, Sarah Badillo, and Nina Conner met with Hehnly mentors and their new “links” for the first time over a bagel breakfast to get to know one another and discuss the program’s goals. Students rolled dice and answered a corresponding ice breaker question about themselves. Such questions included: If a genie gave you three wishes, what would you wish for? If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to take with you? If you could spend the day with one fictional character, who would it be? This allowed mentors and links to better understand each other’s interests, strengths, and weaknesses. According to Ms. Conner, “The group is eagerly anticipating their next event during which they will bowl at Garwood Lanes and share a lunch at Mooyah.”
