Mayor’s Pay It Forward Project

As we kick off the Mayor’s “Pay It Forward” initiative, he would like to thank the young men of Sigma Beta Tau Fraternity, of the Kean University Chapter, and their Executive President Nigel Donald for their generous act of kindness to the seniors of Linden.
On Friday, November 27th, Sigma Beta Tau donated a comfortable bench to the seniors living in the Dill Ave. Apartments. This project, as you know,is very simple. Young people, as well as adults, are encouraged to take time out of their day to pay it forward and give back to their community. Project Paying it Forward was inspired by my grandmother and father who taught me at an early age the importance of helping my fellow mankind to make the world better. I’m sure most of you are familiar with the movie Pay It Forward where the Social Studies teacher gives an assignment to his class, to think of an idea to change the world for the better, then to put it into action.
Something simple as a bench donated by Kean University Sigma Beta Tau Fraternity, brought laughter and excitement to the seniors of Linden. There are no deadlines as this is a year round project. Participants will be recognized and honored at each Council meeting. To be considered, a  brief paragraph on how an idea has changed Linden for the better must be included and emailed to the Mayor along with pictures.
