Majestic Winds to Perform a Fundraiser Concert

Majestic Winds, the professional wind band of the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts, will present a winter concert at the First Baptist Church, 170 Elm Street, Westfield, NJ on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble will be directed by Howard Toplansky, an NJWA staff instrumental instructor. “Our musical offerings are geared to please a variety of musical tastes and range from Renaissance to Ragtime favorites,” stated Toplansky.
“Marinarella” Overture by Julius Fucik, Highlights from “Exodus” by Ernest Gold and “Reine de La Mer” by John Philip Sousa will be the main selections on the first half of the concert. “Slavonic Rhapsody No. 2” by Carl Friedemann will also be featured on this program.Several fine marches will also be performed on this program, which include “Hall of Fame” by Thomas Allen, “Glasgow Fair” by Major James Howe, “Freedom City” by Karl King and Skyrocket by Claudio Grafulla.
Rounding out this concert will be “Rhapsody for Band” by John Cacavas, “Zoot Suit Riot” by Steve Perry, “Elite Syncopations” by Scott Joplin, and Hungarian Dances Nos. 7 & 8 by Johannes Brahms.
