Majestic Winds Performed Concert At Zion Lutheran Church

Majestic Winds, the professional wind band of the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts, presented a winter concert at the Zion Lutheran Church, 559 Raritan Road, Clark, NJ on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble was directed by Howard Toplansky, an NJWA staff instrumental instructor. “Our musical offerings are geared to please a variety of musical tastes and range from Renaissance to Ragtime favorites,” stated Toplansky.
“Fatinitza” Overture by Franz von Suppe, Highlights from “King and I” by Richard Rodgers and “Cake Walk” by Claude Debussy was the main selections on the first half of the concert. “Slavonic Dance #8” by Antonin Dvorak also featured on this program. The march offered on this concert was “The Thin Red Line” by Kenneth Alford.
Additional numbers included in this concert are “Les Violettes” Waltz by Emile Waldteufel, “Galop” by Dimitri Shostakovich, “If Thou Be Near” by Johann Sebastian Bach and “Variants on an American Hymn” by Michael Sweeney.
This event was open to the public. Admission free and contributions  gratefully accepted.
