Touch-a-Truck is Rolling Back into Madison
After a four-year hiatus, Madison’s biennial summer family event, Touch-A-Truck, is back and ready to roll! So, mark your calendar for Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here’s a chance for children of all ages to put their imaginations into “high gear” when they climb aboard, beep the horns, flash the lights, and sound the sirens as they sit in the driver’s seat of their favorite trucks. The fantastic lineup includes many vehicles, such as emergency, utility, and construction trucks. What memorable photo opportunities!
Emergency vehicles will stretch along Keep Street across from the Madison Public Library, and a variety of large trucks will fill the Madison Area YMCA rear parking lot. Sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Public Library in cooperation with the Madison Area YMCA and the Rotary Club of Madison, Touch-a-Truck will take place rain or shine.
Touch-a-Truck will feature free rock painting through Madison NJ Rocks, a local organization whose primary goal is to spread kindness and smiles through painted rocks. This activity will allow eventgoers an opportunity to paint trucks, police cars, and rescue vehicles they visited and enjoyed.
Touch-a-Truck will keep families entertained with additional free activities, including a community poster art activity by CRAFTED, balloon artists, and a temporary tattoo station. Refreshments for purchase from several food vendors will be on-site.
Tickets are available at any circulation desk at the library or on the Friends’ website:
Friendsmadisonnjlibrary.org. Admission for toddlers and children up to age 12 will be $8 for advance purchase and $10 on the day of the event. The cost for teens and adults is $5. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This fundraiser will benefit various library offerings, particularly programs for children and teens, and expand the book, media, and digital collections. Mommy & Me Yoga, Rhyme Time, and the Children’s Summer Reading Program are favorite library-sponsored events funded by the Friends, as are the very popular museum passes and grab-and-go craft kits.
Support for this community event is available through sponsor opportunities. Sponsorship forms are also at the library and on the Friends website. Questions can be directed to friendsmadisonnjlibrary@gmail.com.
