Upcoming Candidates Forums
The League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence & Summit
The League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence & Summit will be sponsoring Candidates Forums for Mayor, Council and Board of Education. These Forums will be in person. Questions will be submitted in advance and screened for duplicates, personal attacks and to make sure the question is related to the duties of the office being sought. A Moderator from outside the area will facilitate the event.
Berkeley Heights
September 8, 7 p.m. – Berkeley Heights Mayor and Township Council Debate will be held at the Municipal Building (29 Park Ave) in the Council Chambers. It will be available on the Township’s Zoom format. Questions for the Candidates should be sent by September 6 to LWVBHNPS@yahoo.com. Please write either a question for the Mayor or a question for the Council in the subject line.
September 19, 7 p.m. – Berkeley Heights Board of Education forum will be held at Gov. Livingston High School in the Auditorium. The program will be recorded and available on GLTV. Questions for the Candidates should be submitted toLWVBHNPS@yahoo.com. Please write BH BOE in the subject line.
New Providence
September 19, 7:30 p.m. – The New Providence Board of Education Forum will be held in the Chorus Room at New Providence High School. The program will be recorded and available on the New Providence local cable access station. Please submit questions to LWVBHNPS@yahoo.com. Write NP BOE in the subject line.
September 22, 7 p.m. – The New Providence Mayor and Borough Council Debate will be held in the Chorus Room at New Providence High School. The program will be recorded and available for viewing on the local cable access station. Submit questions to LWVBHNPS@yahoo.com. In the subject line state if the question is directed to the Mayoral Candidates or the Borough Council Candidates.
These Candidates Forums are being held in early September because Mail-In Ballots will be arriving to those who applied for them or are getting them on a regular basis by September 24. The League of Women Voters feels that the public should be informed about the Candidates and the issues prior to voting.
Besides voting by Mail-In Ballot, there are 9 days of Early Voting (October 29-November 6) on the machines (even provisional ballots). For the sites and hours of Early Voting, please go to unioncountyvotes.com.
Election Day is November 8 at your regular voting location.
