Long Hill Twp Police Officer Jeff Scala Thanked by Stirling firefighters

At their monthly meeting held on September 7, the Stirling Volunteer Fire Co. members expressed their gratitude to Long Hill Township Police Officer Jeff Scala for his extraordinary efforts in aiding the firefighters from five fire departments as they fought a major residential fire in Meyersville.
The fire occurred during the evening of July 20, 2017 during a heat wave with high humidity, which quickly drained firefighters’ physical endurance as they fought the stubborn fire while wearing their 40+ pounds of firefighting gear.  Officer Scala gave vital assistance to the firefighters including providing them with drinking water and helping remove tripping hazards and obstacles.
On behalf of the Stirling and other firefighters who fought that fire, Stirling Fire Chief Kevin Philips presented Officer Scala with a much deserved Certificate of Appreciate as the firefighters gave him a standing ovation and each personally thanked him.
