Appointment of Superintendent Dr. Anne Mucci
On Monday, December 14, 2020, the Long Hill Township Board of Education with a unanimous vote approved Dr. Anne Mucci as the district’s next superintendent, commencing January 1, 2021.
Dr. Mucci, a seasoned Morris County Superintendent, served in various administrative roles in the Mountain Lakes School District,
including Superintendent (2011-2019), Curriculum Director, Assistant Director of Special Services, High School Principal, and Middle School Assistant Principal. In her current role as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Association for Supervision and Curriculum evelopment, she leads educators throughout the state and nation in the development of high-quality curriculum and professional development. Throughout her career, Dr. Mucci has demonstrated a strong commitment to educating the whole child and building strong partnerships with all stakeholders.
“Dr. Mucci has a wealth of experience in educational leadership, operations management, and community engagement,” said Board president Marta Moakley. “Above all, she prioritizes student achievement. I have every confidence that, as a strategic thinker and problem solver, she will lead the Long Hill Township School District during these challenging times in education, as we navigate the realities of the pandemic.”
Dr. Mucci’s selection is the culmination of an extensive and thorough search for Long Hill’s new superintendent. After multiple interview rounds with a rich pool of highly qualified candidates, the Superintendent Search Committee recommended round three candidates for the full Board’s consideration.
Karen Nyquist, chair of the Superintendent Search Committee, shared, “Having served as chair of three superintendent searches, I can say this search presented the committee with the most difficult choices I had experienced as the candidate pool was very impressive. Dr. Mucci exceeded our expectations and the committee and board as a whole were unanimous in their final selection. I am personally excited to have her start her stewardship of Long Hill.”
At the end of the round three interviews and after comprehensive background and reference checks, the Long Hill Board of Education presented Dr. Mucci to the school community for a virtual meet and greet. The positive feedback from administrators, staff, and community members was encouraging, crediting Dr. Mucci as genuine, open, and knowledgeable.
Dr. Mucci is excited at the opportunity to join the Long Hill Township School District team: “I am impressed by the quality and dedication of the faculty, staff, and administration of Long Hill,” Dr. Mucci said. “It is an honor to be afforded the opportunity to lead such a caring and close knit community. I look forward to getting to know the students and families of the district.”
Dr. Mucci will work closely with interim superintendent Dr. Laura Morana to ensure a smooth transition.
The district thanks Dr. Morana for her leadership, guidance, and expertise these past few months. Dr. Morana has risen to the challenges presented by the COVID pandemic and hybrid and remote learning, in addition to the day to day operations of the district. The Long Hill School district is grateful for the time Dr. Morana has devoted to our school community and is appreciative of the work she has put into preparing the district for its next instructional leader.
